Too much or too little water: water resources
Key outcomes from the conference session
Increase in human population will impact on water quantity and quality.
Lack of sufficient, good quality water could raise initiate behavioural change and raise awareness of other environmental health and social issues.
Encourage local participation by reporting environmental pollution.
Education and awareness is needed on how to use our water efficiently and how our activities negatively affects water quality.
Background
Water resources are key to all living things, yet, drought and floods are common and climate change projections suggest they will become more frequent and long-lasting.
Globally, one of the most affected groups from floods or droughts are women and children.
Discussion
At the 2018 conference, Dr Rosalind Bark, from the University of East Anglia, discussed the following during the session;
- What options are available to integrate knowledge within and between communities in order to minimise impact of these hazards?
- How can we partner with groups to reduce the impact of these challenges?
- What options do we have to drive change?
